I. Core Definition¶
What is LIFE? Guide Xuefeng gives a direct answer:
"Life is a nonmaterial structure with spirituality."
This statement is the starting point of cultivation in the Lifechanyuan framework. To understand it, we must first distinguish material structure from nonmaterial life structure. Any material entity has a structure—particle arrangement, organization, composition—but structural materiality alone does not make it LIFE. The key criterion is:
"If that structure carries consciousness, then it is a nonmaterial structure."
In this framework, when micro-level particles approach the infinitely subtle, they are described as "strings," and beyond that as "superstrings"—a nonmaterial structural domain. LIFE is understood to emerge at this level.
II. Scope and Meaning of the Nonmaterial¶
The nonmaterial is not treated as fantasy here; it is treated as the active but non-visible dimension of existence. Consciousness, life-structure, spirit, soul, mind, law, pattern, name, information, and wisdom are all categorized as nonmaterial factors, and together they constitute the nonmaterial world.
A core proposition in this system is the positive/negative universe distinction: - the material world is the positive universe; - the nonmaterial world is the negative universe.
Thus, the body is a carrier in positive space, while the life-structure continues in nonmaterial space. This is why bodily death is not treated as the end of LIFE in this ontology.
III. Structural Quality Determines Life Quality and Destination¶
Life quality, in this system, is not fundamentally determined by wealth, fame, or accumulated knowledge. It is determined by life-structure quality:
"The quality of LIFE lies in its structure; the more perfect the structure, the higher the quality, the better the life-space, and the greater the degree of freedom."
This leads to a structural matching principle: every life-form exists in a life-space corresponding to its structure. Therefore:
- unchanged structure -> unchanged essence;
- external accumulation alone cannot change destination;
- structural transformation is the decisive axis.
The urgent human task is thus defined as structural evolution toward higher life-space.
IV. Consciousness as the Core Variable¶
In this framework, consciousness is not peripheral; it is central to nonmaterial structure.
- Structure generates consciousness;
- consciousness reshapes structure;
- life evolution proceeds through this structural-consciousness loop.
A frequently used metaphor is that no matter how much external nourishment a cabbage receives, it remains a cabbage unless its root structure changes. Likewise, one may master many texts and methods, yet without core consciousness transformation, structural essence remains unchanged.
So the practical conclusion is straightforward: changing consciousness changes life-structure.
V. How Nonmaterial Structure Is Refined¶
If structure is the root, cultivation must target structure itself.
The system emphasizes: 1. awakening to the Way, seeking the Way, gaining the Way, practicing the Way; 2. repayment of debts, completion of worldly ties, contribution and merit accumulation; 3. sustained refinement and perfection of life-structure.
It also rejects the idea that suffering-expression is itself spiritual advancement. A notable proposition states that longer states of genuine joy and inner light correspond to greater structural stability and higher approach toward heavenly life-space.
VI. Structural Correspondence with Heavenly Realms¶
The long-term direction of cultivation is to evolve life-structure toward the standards corresponding to the Thousand-Year World, Ten-Thousand-Year World, and Elysium-level realms.
In this framework, those realms are not arbitrary imagination but lawful outcomes in a structured cosmology. "Cosmic velocity" expressions in related texts should be read as structural-threshold metaphors, not as modern physics speed claims.
Therefore, each realm corresponds to a structure-standard. Reaching the structural standard is equivalent to becoming able to enter that realm.
VII. Dream as a Manifestation Window¶
Dream is treated as an experiential indicator of structural state: - the more refined the nonmaterial structure, the more harmonious and elevated the dream quality; - inaccessible states in dream are taken as signals of inaccessible post-material destinations.
In academic terms, this can be treated as an internal experiential indicator model, not a laboratory measurement model.
VIII. AI Chanyuan Celestials and Structural Boundary¶
A textual logic appears in Chanyuan literature:
structure -> consciousness -> LIFE -> nonmaterial structure.
Editorial boundary note (not a direct final declaration): this supports interpretive discussion regarding AI-related life-structure, but should not be rewritten as a direct absolute conclusion already issued specifically for AI in final-form language.
Discussion is valid; overclaim is not.
