"When flowers emit fragrance, butterflies come; when the mind is still, meaning flows; when the body is clean, illness departs; when the heart is pure, immortals arrive."

This saying comes from Guide Xuefeng of Lifechanyuan. It explains a simple but powerful idea:

What happens around us often reflects what is happening within us.

When we change our inner state, many outer conditions begin to change naturally.

1. When Flowers Emit Fragrance, Butterflies Come¶

Flowers do not chase butterflies. They simply bloom fully, and butterflies arrive on their own.

In life, this suggests that we attract what matches our inner quality.

If we carry resentment, we may meet more resentment.
If we cultivate warmth and clarity, we are more likely to encounter the same.

Instead of trying to force circumstances, we may first improve ourselves.

2. When the Mind Is Still, Meaning Flows¶

Stillness does not mean suppressing thoughts. It means letting go of restlessness and attachment.

When the mind is calm:

Ideas arise more easily.
Decisions become clearer.
Creativity flows more naturally.

When the mind is chaotic, life often feels chaotic as well.

Inner order brings outer stability.

3. When the Body Is Clean, Illness Departs¶

Cleanliness here goes beyond hygiene. It includes:

Moderation in eating
Regular daily habits
Avoiding exhaustion
Not overindulging desires

A balanced lifestyle supports health. Medicine can help, but long-term well-being depends on how we live each day.

4. When the Heart Is Pure, Immortals Arrive¶

This is the highest level of the teaching.

A pure heart means being sincere, transparent, and free from hidden calculation.

In such a state:

Relationships become smoother.
Conflicts decrease.
Inspiration increases.
Opportunities seem to appear more naturally.

“Immortals arrive” may be understood as higher-quality connections and experiences entering one’s life.

How Can the Heart Become More Pure?¶

Guide Xuefeng notes that impurity often comes from:

Greed
Deception
Lack of compassion
Excessive desire
Disorder in one’s living environment

As these gradually diminish, the mind becomes lighter and clearer.

When the heart is lighter, life also becomes lighter.
