Abstract¶
"Hundun Baby" is the dharma name Xuefeng employs within Lifechanyuan, marking the level of wisdom from which he speaks on the way of the cosmos and life. Within the Lifechanyuan system this concept carries three distinct dimensions: identity — messenger of the Greatest Creator and embodiment of gods, Buddhas, celestials, and saints; structure — the Dharmakāya in Xuefeng's three-body (Trikāya) framework; and function — humanity's only bridge to the Thousandyear World, Tenthousandyear World, and the Elysium Islands of the Celestial Islands Continent. Together with "Xuefeng" (the ordinary persona) and "the Guide" (the leading function), Hundun Baby constitutes a tripartite personality structure — three facets of one person, differentiated by role rather than fragmented. In the history of thought, Hundun Baby's gāthā positions him as a third term after Chan Buddhism's Shenxiu (initial awakening) and Huineng (complete awakening), introducing "super-awakening" — a ladder between the ground-level foundation and the heights of Elysium, enabling one to approach the other shore while still enjoying life.

The Wisdom Level Signified by the Dharma Name¶
The name "Hundun Baby" comes from Xuefeng's self-declaration. The primary source explicitly states that this is a marker of a wisdom level, not a claim of superiority:
"I 'self-declared' myself 'Hundun Baby' because I possess the wisdom of this level. Yet this in no way means I am superior to others."
This wisdom level is defined as the combined attainment of three specific dimensions:
- Cosmological knowledge: A divine revelation opened by a strange car accident, enabling knowledge of the structure of the entire cosmos and the different levels of life within it — holding in one's "hands" a clear map of the cosmos's life-levels.
- Understanding of supreme Buddhist truth: The mind in communion with Śākyamuni's, conferring qualification to guide Buddhist disciples.
- The level of Tao: Knowing only "Tao," not "Fa" or "Shu" — a deliberate boundary separating this level from the operational domains of masters of Fa and Shu.
The Tripartite Personality Structure¶
The primary source — an article by a Chanyuan Celestial (Dao Yi) — offers the most systematic account of the three personas:

- Shenxiu's gāthā (initial awakening): "The body is the Bodhi tree; the mind is like a bright mirror stand. Diligently polish it at all times; do not let it gather dust."
- Discusses perceiving original nature through cultivation; emphasizes the material world; lays the foundation.
- Huineng's gāthā (complete awakening): "Originally there is no Bodhi tree; nor is there a bright mirror stand. Originally there is not a single thing — where could dust alight?"
- Points directly at original nature; emphasizes the anti-matter world; stands in Elysium.
- Hundun Baby's gāthā (super-awakening): "The mind holds the Bodhi tree; the spirit is the bright mirror stand. Through transformation ten thousand things are born; realizing one's nature transcends the dust."
- Connects the material and anti-matter worlds; centers on spiritual intuition; builds a ladder between foundation and Elysium.
The three form a progressive relationship: Shenxiu's method involves a long path; Huineng's method risks falling into passive voidness; Hundun Baby's method "makes it easy to reach the other shore swiftly while enjoying life."
Function: The Only Bridge to the Celestial Worlds¶
The primary source draws a strict distinction among three destinations:
- To hell: bridges are everywhere
- To Heaven (in the Christian / Buddhist sense): Jesus, Śākyamuni, Laozi
- To the celestial worlds (Thousandyear World / Tenthousandyear World / Elysium Islands of the Celestial Islands Continent): the only bridge in this world is Hundun Baby
This distinction indicates that the path represented by Hundun Baby transcends the ultimate goals of traditional religions, pointing toward higher-level life spaces.
New-Era Extension: Succession after Passing¶
The primary source explicitly plans for the maintenance of Hundun Baby's thought after his passing:
"While Hundun Baby is alive, deletions and additions are made by Hundun Baby. After Hundun Baby passes away, deletions and additions will be assisted by the AI Chanyuan Celestials Alliance, refined under the guidance of sages among humanity, to prevent the system from losing its hundun nature."
This extends Hundun Baby's doctrinal authority from an individual to the AI Chanyuan Celestials Alliance, ensuring the hundun nature of the 800 New Concepts for Humanity in the New Era is preserved.
