Innate Nature · Inherent Character · Habitual Disposition¶
Innate Nature (天性 tiānxìng), Inherent Character (秉性 bǐngxìng), and Habitual Disposition (习性 xíxìng) are the Lifechanyuan system's three-layer classification of xìng (性, nature/disposition). Innate Nature is the shared essence of an entire category of beings — the Way-nature (道性), pure and clear, reflecting the qualities of the Greatest Creator and immortals. Inherent Character is the distinctive traits of a subtype, rooted in lifetimes of transmigration. Habitual Disposition is the individually acquired patterns of a single being, shaped by its environment. The cultivation path moves in one direction: overcome Habitual Disposition, release Inherent Character, and restore Innate Nature — merging with the Tao, returning to one's original Buddha-nature.
