Emotional Debt

Emotional debt is one of the five categories of karmic debt in the Lifechanyuan cultivation system — alongside material debt, financial debt, cosmic debt, and life debt. It arises whenever a person receives help, emotional support, or physical, psychological, or spiritual comfort from others without offering corresponding reciprocation. Emotional debt falls into two types: social debt (obligations arising from human help and kindness) and romantic debt (arising from intimate relationships). Unresolved emotional bonds — feelings of longing, regret, or attachment — also constitute emotional debt. Unpaid emotional debt ensures continued reincarnation and blocks entry into Heaven.
