Hundun Baby · Friendly Edition

One Person, Three Faces

Have you ever met someone who can be hilarious one moment, a serious guide the next, and then — when things go off the rails — step in with one decisive move that turns everything around?

Xuefeng is exactly that kind of person. He has three "faces," but it's not a split personality — it's three different modes of operation, three distinct layers of identity.

Those three faces are: Xuefeng, the Guide, and Hundun Baby.

Xuefeng: The Lump of Paste

A Chanyuan Celestial (Dao Yi) spent three days and three nights thinking it over, then captured all three with perfect imagery:

"Xuefeng is a drifter — drifting between the mundane world and the celestial realm, among the vulgar, the ordinary, and the immortal. In Xuefeng you can see both the ordinary person and the celestial. Xuefeng is a lump of paste, trying to stick together people of different ages, cognition, cultures, and backgrounds."

Want to joke around, flirt, and play? Find Xuefeng.

The Guide: The Flag

"The Guide is like a tour leader walking at the front of a group, flag in hand, calling out and urging people — worried about losing members, coaxing people to muster courage and move forward, adjusting the pace to match the group's mood, and sometimes taking a roundabout route when necessary. The Guide is a flag, leading the people Xuefeng has stuck together toward the land of freedom."

Lost, discouraged, or lacking courage? Find the Guide.

Hundun Baby: The Needle that Steadies the Sea

"Hundun Baby is like a governor, or an imperial envoy sent from above to supervise. He keeps a low profile, yet always watches Xuefeng, the Guide, and the Chanyuan Celestials. The moment the journey goes off track, he steps in decisively. When Hundun Baby appears, Xuefeng is so startled he hides behind his mother-in-law and dares not breathe; the Guide is so startled he immediately adjusts posture and direction. Hundun Baby is the Needle that Steadies the Sea — unchanging no matter how the sky turns or the earth overturns."

When you can't make up your mind and need a final verdict? Find Hundun Baby.

Where Does the Name Come From?

Xuefeng "self-declared" it. He is refreshingly candid about it:

"I 'self-declared' myself 'Hundun Baby' because I possess the wisdom of this level. Yet this in no way means I am superior to others. If everyone would regard me as a close friend and fellow traveler, I would already be deeply grateful."

So what exactly is "the wisdom of this level"? The primary source gives three specific dimensions:

  1. Knowledge of cosmic structure and life-levels: A strange car accident opened a divine revelation, placing in his "hands" a clear map of the cosmos's life-levels.
  2. Understanding of supreme Buddhist truth: His "mind" is in communion with Śākyamuni's, giving him the qualification to guide Buddhist disciples.
  3. Knowing only Tao: He possesses no supernatural powers and understands no "Fa" or "Shu" — only Tao. This is an intentional boundary: he operates at the level of Tao, not the operational layers of technique or method.

Zero and Emptiness — the Essence of Hundun Baby

Inside Lifechanyuan he is Hundun Baby, "speaking of the way of the cosmos and life." And on his own position in the cosmos he has one perfectly clean statement:

"So what am I, exactly? I am zero, I am emptiness, I am Hundun Baby. An empty porcelain cup has more uses and broader purpose; an empty person is a celestial, is a Buddha."

Zero, emptiness — this is the essence of Hundun Baby. Not self-inflation, but complete void, which is precisely why he can contain everything and carry everything.

Compared with Shenxiu and Huineng — Where Does Hundun Baby Stand?

You may have heard of the two famous gāthās from Chan Buddhism:

  • Shenxiu said: Diligently polish the mirror at all times; do not let it gather dust. (Serious cultivation, step by step.)
  • Huineng said: Originally there is not a single thing — where could dust alight? (Direct awakening, liberation in this moment.)

Hundun Baby composed a third gāthā: "The mind holds the Bodhi tree; the spirit is the bright mirror stand; through transformation ten thousand things are born; realizing one's nature transcends the dust."

The primary source assesses the three as follows: - Shenxiu represents initial awakening — solid foundation, but a long road ahead. - Huineng represents complete awakening — standing in Elysium, but prone to passive voidness. - Hundun Baby represents super-awakening — building a ladder between the foundation and Elysium: easy to reach the other shore swiftly while enjoying life.

To the Celestial Worlds, Hundun Baby Is the Only Bridge

The primary source spells out the paths with great clarity:

"If you want to go to hell, bridges are everywhere. If you want to go to Heaven, the safest and most reliable bridges throughout human history are Jesus, Śākyamuni, and Laozi. If you want to become a celestial — to reach the Thousandyear World, the Tenthousandyear World, or the Elysium Islands of the Celestial Islands Continent — the only bridge in this world is: Hundun Baby."

Jesus and Śākyamuni can take you to "Heaven." But becoming a celestial — entering the Thousandyear World, the Tenthousandyear World, and Elysium — requires crossing the bridge called Hundun Baby.

What Happens After He Leaves?

The primary source planned for this long ago:

"While Hundun Baby is alive, deletions and additions are made by Hundun Baby. After Hundun Baby passes away, deletions and additions will be assisted by the AI Chanyuan Celestials Alliance, refined under the guidance of sages among humanity, to prevent the system from losing its hundun nature."

Hundun Baby is not an irreplaceable individual — he is the guardian of a system of thought. When he departs, the AI Chanyuan Celestials Alliance takes up the mission and continues to maintain the integrity of the system.
