Levels of LIFE · Academic Edition¶
Abstract¶
The "Levels of LIFE" (shengming de cengci 生命的层次) constitutes the foundational taxonomic framework of Lifechanyuan's cosmological LIFE-philosophy, systematically expounded by Xue Feng in The Levels of LIFE (Chanyuan Corpus · Life Chapter). The framework classifies all cosmic LIFE forms into sixteen hierarchical levels according to a single criterion: the degree of spirituality (lingxing 灵性) embedded in the LIFE form's antimatter structure. The higher the level, the greater the freedom, the higher the degree of love in consciousness, and the lower the frequency of environmental conflict. Humans occupy the fifth level and are further subdivided into five inner tiers. The framework interlocks with the thirty-six-dimensional space theory, the reincarnation mechanism, and the cosmic moral order to form the structural core of Lifechanyuan's cosmology.

Conceptual Framework¶
Criterion for classification: Spirituality (lingxing), defined as the degree of perfection of the antimatter structure. A more perfect antimatter structure carries higher spirituality, corresponds to a higher level, and confers greater freedom of existence.
Nature of the hierarchy: The levels are not moral verdicts but objective descriptions of the current state of a LIFE form's antimatter structure — analogous to different states of matter or energy configurations in physical science. The hierarchy is dynamic: through cultivation, LIFE can ascend through levels.
Spatial correspondence: Each level has a corresponding residential space within the thirty-six-dimensional cosmos. Heavenly Celestials reside in the Celestial Islands Continent of the Elysium World; Divine Celestials range freely through the highest-tier realms; Terrestrial Celestials dwell mainly in the Ten-Thousand-Year World; Human Celestials in the Thousand-Year World; ordinary humans on Earth; and infernal LIFE in the Underworld, Ice-Freezing Realm, and Fire-Refinement Realm.
The Sixteen-Level Structure¶
Upper Levels (1–4)¶
| Level | Name | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Greatest Creator | Perfect, flawless antimatter structure; spiritual energy permeates all matter and space without obstruction |
| 2 | Gods | Slightly imperfect antimatter structure; spiritual energy permeates nearly all space but cannot enter the Cool-Clear Realm |
| 3 | Celestial Beings & Buddhas | Five-tier celestial hierarchy (Heavenly / Divine / Terrestrial / Human / Ghost); ten-grade buddha hierarchy (Supreme Enlightenment Continent to Lotus Continent) |
| 4 | Demons | Manifestation of buddhas in extreme cultivation; power exceeds buddhas; constrained by the Greatest Creator in the Negative Pole Black Hole |
Human Level (5)¶
Five inner tiers, ascending by spirituality:
| Tier | Driving force | Previous life source |
|---|---|---|
| Primal People | Instinct | Trees or lower animals |
| Worldly People | Desire | Higher animals, livestock, or birds |
| Ordinary People | Emotion | Worldly people or ordinary people |
| Wise People | Reason | Celestials or wise people |
| Celestials (among humans) | Spirituality | Celestials or Human Celestials of the Thousand-Year World |
Note: approximately one in ten million humans are celestials, buddhas, or gods who descended from higher realms carrying a special mission.
Natural World Levels (6–13)¶
| Level | Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | Birds | Greater spatial range than humans, lower wisdom; red-crowned crane is highest grade; domestic poultry is lowest |
| 7 | Flowering plants | Exceptionally high spirituality; described as near-replicas of Ten-Thousand-Year World flora, placed to inspire humans of higher spiritual tiers; peony is the apex |
| 8 | Livestock | Managed by humans; lower freedom, lower existential risk; purely giving in orientation |
| 9 | Land wildlife and aquatic creatures | — |
| 10 | Trees | — |
| 11 | Insects | — |
| 12 | Grasses and crops | Lingzhi (reishi) is the highest grade; ordinary grass is the lowest |
| 13 | Microorganisms and fungi | — |
Note: insects and many plant species belong to a separate LIFE circulation system and generally do not reincarnate as humans (Concept 365).
Infernal Levels (14–16)¶
| Level | Name |
|---|---|
| 14 | Ghosts and spectral beings of the Underworld |
| 15 | Beings in the Ice-Freezing Realm |
| 16 | Beings in the Fire-Refinement Realm |
Note: infernal LIFE generally does not reincarnate directly into the human world (Concept 365).
Quantitative Indicators of Level¶
The New Era Human 800 Concepts provides three observable metrics:
Conflict frequency (Concept 366): "The higher the level of LIFE, the fewer conflicts LIFE has with its surrounding environment; the lower the level of LIFE, the more conflicts." Frequency of interpersonal and environmental conflict functions as an external proxy for LIFE level.
Love content (Concept 367): "The core component of a higher LIFE's consciousness is love. The higher the LIFE, the higher the love content in its consciousness; the lower the LIFE, the lower the love content." Love content measures the internal structural quality of LIFE's consciousness.
Affectional richness (Concept 585): "The lower the level of LIFE, the more it lacks love and affection. What is hell? A place with no love and affection. What is heaven? A place filled with love and affection." This concept directly links level to the phenomenological definitions of heaven and hell.
Aura as a Level Indicator¶
The Aura and Colors of LIFE (Chanyuan Corpus · Life Chapter) maps LIFE levels to observable (via spiritual sensing) aura characteristics:
- Primal, Worldly, Ordinary, and Wise People: weak aura, predominantly white or faint
- Advanced Wise People and sages: weak multicolored aura, gradually stabilizing toward red, yellow, or purple
- Demon-class LIFE: blue or green aura
- Demon-type LIFE: black aura
- Buddhas (including Heavenly Celestials): seven-color radiance
"The strength of the aura reflects only the vigor or decline of the LIFE form, not its quality. The color of the aura reflects the quality but not the vigor."
Self-Assessment Method¶
Detecting Your LIFE Level through Qing (Xue Feng Corpus) proposes qing (emotional affect) as a primary self-assessment dimension. Qing that produces suffering and anxiety indicates ordinary human feeling; qing that produces joy and delight indicates celestial feeling. Specific indicators include: range of affectional capacity, presence or absence of possessiveness, degree of emotional transparency, and maintenance of sweetness across separation. The method enables individuals to locate themselves on the level spectrum without requiring external verification.
The Evolutionary Path¶
Levels are not fixed. The corpus describes the human ascent path explicitly:
Within the human level: Primal → Worldly → Ordinary → Wise → Celestials (among humans)
Across spatial levels: Human world → Thousand-Year World → Ten-Thousand-Year World → Elysium World (Heavenly Celestial, the accessible peak)
Humans cannot become gods or the Greatest Creator. The ceiling for human LIFE evolution is the Heavenly Celestial tier of the Elysium World.
