You Have Never Actually Died¶

I. A Strange Feeling You've Probably Had¶

Have you ever walked into a place you've never been before and felt, for a moment, that you knew it?

Or had an inexplicable sense of familiarity with something — a person, a landscape, a scene — that you have no rational reason to recognize?

According to Guide Xuefeng, this isn't imagination. It's a flash of the subconscious recognizing an environment from a previous life. You lived there once. This life's brain just can't hold the memory.

And this points to a bigger question: does LIFE reincarnate?

The answer, in this framework, is not just "yes" — it's that LIFE has never stopped, not once.

II. You Have Never Actually Died¶

This sounds strange. But from the perspective of the universe's essential nature, it's precise.

The essential nature of LIFE is a "spiritually-charged antimatter structure." This structure cannot be destroyed. It can only transform — from one form into another, from one space into another.

Three everyday analogies make this concrete:

Moving house: You live in an old apartment. You move out; a new tenant comes in. The old apartment stands empty. Has the old apartment "died"? In a sense. Have you died? No — you just moved. Death is LIFE moving to a different address.

Crossing a river by boat: Your physical body is the boat; LIFE is the person crossing. When you reach the shore, you abandon the boat and continue walking. The boat rots — but you keep going.

Water evaporating: Put a dish of water in the sun. After a few hours, the water is gone. Did the water "die"? No. It became vapor, rose into clouds, fell back as rain. The total volume of water on Earth never changes. LIFE works the same way.

III. Reincarnation Is Already Happening Around You¶

Here is Xuefeng's most direct definition of reincarnation:

"Reincarnation is doing the same thing over and over — living the same LIFE over and over."

And then he asks a question:

What was your grandfather's grandfather doing? Growing up, getting married, building a house, having children, raising them, arranging their marriages, then growing old and dying.

What was your grandfather doing? The same.

Your father? The same.

You?

That is reincarnation — generation after generation, running the same script. Not because anyone is forcing you. But because a LIFE whose spiritual sense has not yet opened moves in a fixed orbit, like a planet around a star.

IV. The Total Number of LIFE Never Changes¶

Here is a foundational cosmic law:

The total number of LIFE-forms in the universe is a constant. Not increasing, not decreasing.

When the human population on Earth grows, it doesn't mean new LIFE has been created — it means LIFE has transferred in from other spaces. The animal population decreases accordingly. When large numbers of humans die, those LIFE-forms don't vanish — they migrate to other spaces: the Immortal realms, the underworld, the plant realm, the animal realm.

LIFE is like water. The total amount never changes. It only cycles.

This also means: the purpose of reincarnation is to maintain the symmetrical balance of LIFE across all cosmic spaces — and to implement a fair system of consequences. The Tao controls the program. The Greatest Creator's justice is expressed through it.

V. What You're Thinking When You Die Determines Where You Go¶

This is the most important — and most demanding — part of the whole picture.

The state of your consciousness at the moment of death determines where you go next.

Because consciousness determines the antimatter structure, and the antimatter structure determines what kind of LIFE you become.

Animal consciousness at death → animal realm
Immortal consciousness at death → Immortal realm

But here is the sobering part:

A last-minute change of mind won't save you.

If you've lived your entire life in ordinary human consciousness, you cannot suddenly attain Buddha-consciousness in your final breath and ascend to the Pure Land. There is no possibility of this — not in the slightest. Without the accumulation of quantitative change, qualitative change cannot occur. You can't make a withdrawal from an account you've never deposited into.

"Where a person's treasure is, there their heart will be. Where the heart is, that is where they go."

VI. The Map of Destinations¶

Xuefeng provided a "Reincarnation Overview" — a table of where different kinds of consciousness lead:

Virtue-accumulating	Reborn in the Wealthy Path

Cold and indifferent	Reborn in the plant realm
Malicious and venomous	Falls to the ghost path
Domineering and overbearing	Descends to the frozen layer
Cruel and brutal	Descends to the fire-refining layer

This isn't a system of rewards and punishments in the traditional moral sense. It's a description of natural gravitational affinity — what kind of consciousness structure, what kind of space it's drawn toward. Like objects of different densities floating at different levels.

VII. You Really Can Reincarnate as an Animal¶

This is hard for many people to accept. Xuefeng gives four logical arguments:

One — Debt: The cosmic law says the sum of positive and negative energy is zero. Whatever you've received from someone, you must repay. One form of repayment is becoming the domestic animal raised by your creditor. The folk saying "in my next life I wish to serve you as your horse or ox" is not metaphor — it's real.

Two — Consciousness: People whose consciousness is nearly indistinguishable from a certain animal will reincarnate as that animal after death. Look carefully at the people around you.

Three — Balance: The human and animal populations are in constant exchange. When humans increase beyond balance, the mechanism corrects — some reincarnate as animals.

Four — The human world as transit station: The human world contains representatives of every form of LIFE — gods, Buddhas, Immortals, demons, spirits, and the conscious representatives of every animal form. This proves bidirectional transformation is possible.

Four warnings: - Never accumulate debts — economic, emotional, or ecological - Check your own consciousness for animal attributes; eliminate them early - Do as little harm as possible to animals, domestic or wild - Seek the guidance of sages; keep away from dark influences

VIII. Why Going Down Is Easy and Going Up Is Hard¶

Here is a law you need to know:

The lower the LIFE level, the greater the number of LIFE-forms at that level.

Just as in human society — there are more ordinary citizens than mayors, more mayors than governors, more governors than heads of state. In the cosmos, there are more muddled beings than sages, more sages than Immortals.

This means mainstream values — by definition — point downward.

"The road most people walk leads to death (the lower realms); only the road walked by few leads to eternal life (the upper realms)."

"Only those who are leisurely when the world is busy, and busy when the world is leisurely, have hope of going upward."

When everyone is busy getting married, earning money, chasing status — following along means following the gravitational pull of the large numbers, toward the lower realms.

The other reason ascent is hard: human nature doesn't change easily. A peony has been unchanged for a thousand years. A lotus, a thousand years. Without genuine transformation — a rebirth in body and soul — LIFE cannot elevate itself.

IX. Why You Don't Remember Your Previous Lives¶

If reincarnation is real, why don't we remember?

Because the forgetting is designed in.

The "Mengpo Soup" of Chinese mythology isn't just a story. The mechanism of forgetting previous lives serves real functions:

Compassion: Imagine remembering — you discover your child is the enemy who destroyed you in a previous life. Your spouse is your grandmother from two lives ago. Your pet is your beloved child from before. The result would be unmanageable chaos.

Order: Forgetting allows each LIFE to start fresh, maintaining the dynamic balance of all LIFE across all spaces.

Protection: The information from each LIFE's previous existences is a sequence of encoded secrets — "the secret of Heaven." Revealing it carelessly brings trouble and disaster.

This is why, even when someone claims to know their past lives or others', the advice is: don't casually reveal it. The universe keeps its codes for good reason.

X. Can You Change Direction?¶

Yes. But it requires something real.

"Before a person's spiritual sense is opened, their fate is entirely a fixed trajectory — just as an astronomer can predict a planet's orbit … After the spiritual sense is opened, fate is entirely in one's own hands. No fortune-teller can predict where one's LIFE will go. … The essence of cultivation practice is opening the spiritual sense. What is called 'awakening' is the opening of one's own spiritual sense."

Once the spiritual sense opens, the fixed orbit becomes self-directed motion.

The practical pathways:

Open the spiritual sense — the root purpose of cultivation
Transform consciousness — accumulate the consciousness of higher realms so the antimatter structure genuinely changes
Clear karmic debt — no debts means no gravitational pull back to lower realms
Perfect human nature — "the only pass to higher LIFE spaces is perfect human nature"

One last sentence worth remembering:

"Death is only a phenomenon of LIFE. Eternity is the essential nature of LIFE. The reality of LIFE has no birth or death — only reincarnation and transformation."

You have never actually died. You have only been moving — from one form to the next, one space to the next, one life to the next.

The question is not whether you'll continue. The question is: where will you go?
