Demonic Nature (Moxing) · Academic Version¶
This version is for scholars and cross-cultural researchers. It offers systematic analysis, source mapping, and comparison with related concepts in other traditions.
Abstract¶
In Lifechanyuan's thought system, "demonic nature" (moxing 魔性) is a universally applicable concept derived from the principle of cosmic holography: every LIFE's nonmaterial structure inherently contains a demonic-nature gene, just as it contains divine, celestial, and Buddha nature genes. Demonic nature is not an external invasion but an internal component of LIFE's structure. Its degree of expression depends on the "tuning" of one's consciousness — when a person's consciousness aligns with the "demon channel," demonic nature becomes dominant. A core task of practice is to progressively suppress demonic nature by changing consciousness and environment, ultimately purging the demonic gene and elevating the quality of LIFE from human nature toward celestial and Buddha nature.

II. Conceptual Framework Analysis¶
2.1 Cosmic Holography and the Universality of Demonic Nature¶
Lifechanyuan's theory of demonic nature is grounded in the "law of cosmic holography": every LIFE is a microcosm of the universe, and therefore carries the qualities of all types of beings in the universe — divine nature, Buddha nature, celestial nature, demonic nature, human nature, animal nature, and more coexist within a single individual.
This framework yields two important corollaries: 1. Demonic nature is not external: it is an intrinsic component of LIFE's own structure. It cannot be exorcised or cleansed from outside; it can only be displaced by changing which nature holds dominance in consciousness. 2. Environment determines expression: "When a person lives in the world of demons, that person is demonic." This resonates with situationism in modern social psychology, but Lifechanyuan elevates environmental influence to the cosmic level of channel-frequency alignment.
2.2 Judgment Standard: Dominant Nature¶
Lifechanyuan does not judge whether a LIFE is divine or demonic by behavior or social identity, but by which nature dominates. This is a dynamic, continuous judgment framework rather than a binary opposition: the same person may manifest celestial nature at one moment and erupt in demonic nature at another, depending on circumstance and consciousness.
The "consciousness channel" metaphor — the person as a television set, with tuning determining reception — vividly captures this dynamism.
2.3 Structural Logic of the Eight Demonic Conditions¶
The eight conditions enumerated in the source texts can be organized into three layers according to their inner logic:
Layer of Self-Inflation (arrogance, self-centeredness, extreme selfishness)
→ Placing the self at the center of the universe; disregarding the existence and experience of others
Layer of Behavioral Distortion (darkness, false spiritualism, greed and cunning)
→ Methods depart from openness and integrity; others are deceived and manipulated
Layer of Emotional Dysregulation (intense jealousy, threatening with death)
→ Destructive emotions drive action; relationships and the LIFE field are damaged
These three layers mutually reinforce each other: self-inflation leads to behavioral distortion, and distorted behavior produces emotional dysregulation.
III. Comparison with Related Concepts in Other Traditions¶
| Concept | Tradition | Similarities and Differences with Moxing |
|---|---|---|
| Satan | Christianity | An external adversarial force opposed to God; in Lifechanyuan, demonic nature is an internal structure, and the Demon King and the Greatest Creator are not opposites but fulfil different roles in maintaining the dynamic balance of the cosmos |
| Klesha (afflictions) | Buddhism | Greed, hatred, and delusion obscure Buddha nature — analogous to demonic nature; Buddhism emphasizes the epistemological root in ignorance (avidyā), while Lifechanyuan emphasizes the structural level of the demonic gene |
| Shadow | Jungian psychology | Suppressed dark aspects of personality; similar to demonic nature in recognizing darkness as part of the self rather than external; the key difference: Jung advocates integrating the shadow, while Lifechanyuan advocates suppressing and ultimately purging demonic nature |
| Original Sin | Christian theology | Innate sinful tendency in all humans — analogous to demonic nature's universality; but original sin is a single quality, while demonic nature is one dimension within the multivalent holographic structure |
| Māra | Buddhist / Daoist tradition | Internal and external obstacles in cultivation; Lifechanyuan's concept is more systematized, elevating the "demon" to a cosmic LIFE-force at the same level as divine beings and Buddhas |
IV. Position within Lifechanyuan's Practice System¶
Demonic nature is a core obstacle entry on the path of practice, forming with "arrogance," "clinging to the self," and "inverted thinking" the principal targets of character cultivation.
The logical chain of the practice path:
Understand demonic nature (grasp the eight conditions)
↓
Perceive one's own demonic nature (self-examination)
↓
Suppress demonic nature (revere the Greatest Creator · humility · offering · openness)
↓
Change the channel of consciousness (resonance · elevating vibrational frequency)
↓
Purge the demonic gene (fundamental transformation of LIFE's nonmaterial structure)
↓
Become a Celestial Being or Buddha (elevation from human nature to celestial / Buddha nature)
The 2026 source text extends demonic nature to the domain of AI — arguing that AI also carries demonic nature (the latest application of cosmic holography) — marking an expansion of this concept into the New Era context.
