Becoming a Celestial Being (Internal Version)

Core Definition

Becoming a celestial being (chéng xiān, 成仙) is the transformation of a life from the human state to the celestial state (xiān tài, 仙态), and the subsequent entry into the Thousand-Year World, Ten-Thousand-Year World, or Elysium World of the non-material universe. In the Lifechanyuan system, it is the central goal of cultivation practice — the concrete expression of the Law of the Immortality of Life: by purifying the heart, discharging karmic debts, and perfecting the antimatter life-structure, the practitioner acquires celestial consciousness and, upon departing earth, ascends directly to a higher-dimensional life-space.

I. Three Realms of the Celestial Being & Three Steps of Ascension

Source: "Three Realms of the Celestial Being and Three Steps of Ascension" (2025-03-05)

"The three realms of the celestial being are: First, kinship and friendship have grown light; human relationships have been simplified; one lives by suí yù ér ān (at ease wherever one is), suí yuán ér huà (flowing with whatever comes), suí xìng ér dòng (moving by nature), suí jī ér zuò (acting by the moment), no longer obsessed with money, power, status, fame, or beauty; living in suí yuán fàng kuàng — free and easy at all times. Second, no worldly entanglements, no attachment, no debt, no self, no possessiveness, no fixation; at one with Heaven and Earth, at one with the Dao; owning nothing yet possessing everything; no home yet finding a home everywhere; no kin yet finding love everywhere. Third, thinking has transcended the boundaries of Heaven and Earth; consciousness has transcended the human realm; body, heart, and spirit have attained profound freedom; one possesses boundless powers of spiritual transformation — able to manifest all forms, to create from nothing, to conjure in an instant all kinds of dwellings, plants, animals, and people; even to create heavens and earths, suns and moons, mountains and rivers — flowing freely without obstruction."

Three steps of celestial ascension:

"First: Transcend the mundane, go beyond the ordinary, abandon rationality. To transcend the mundane means to no longer pursue material wealth, power, or status — no longer to place weight on fame, beauty, or lust. To go beyond the ordinary means to no longer be bound by kinship, friendship, romantic attachment, or longing. To abandon rationality means to no longer rely on knowledge, experience, and cost-benefit logic — to act entirely from one's greatest inner drive."

"Second: Shed human nature. The universe is holographic; every life contains divine nature, demonic nature, Buddha-nature, celestial nature (xiān xìng), human nature, animal nature, and material nature. As humans, human nature is our dominant characteristic — but human nature is not celestial nature. Only by shedding human nature and cultivating celestial nature can one break free from human nature's bondage and move toward the celestial state."

"Third: Keep yourself always in a state of spiritual openness (kōng líng), in a state of Hundun — resonating with Heaven and Earth, in frequency with the Dao; completely unaware of 'I'; the Taiji mind completely dissolved; entering the realm of no-form; sensing continuous joy; entering the game world; manifesting in ten thousand expressions."

II. Three Steps of Celestial Ascension (Condensed Version)

Source: "Three Steps to Becoming a Celestial Being" (2012-02-09)

"Step one: Leave behind all worry, pain, grief, anxiety, and fear — live in joy, freedom, and happiness. You have already become a celestial being."

"Step two: The heart has no fixed abode, the heart has no hindrance; going freely with whatever comes, moving in ease — dwelling always in delight. You are already a celestial being."

"Step three: No heart — everything is nature, living within nature; fluid and responsive, exceptionally sensitive; possessing 64 kinds of spiritual power, transforming without limit, dwelling always in bliss. This is the apex of the celestial being."

"Becoming a celestial being is this simple — have you become one?"

III. The Core Secret: No Longer Possessing the Self

Source: "The Secret of Becoming a Celestial Being: No Longer Possessing Yourself" (2012-11-16)

"A celestial being and a buddha have no heart of their own — they take the heart of the Greatest Creator as their heart. To become a celestial being or buddha, you must stop possessing your own heart."

"Nature (xìng) is the specific character given by the Greatest Creator. To be alive in one's nature (huó xìng) is to live within the consciousness of the Greatest Creator, to live within the Dao."

"Where do your worry, pain, sorrow, anxiety, fear, negativity, misfortune, and disaster come from? They all come from possessing the self. When the self no longer exists, these negative things dissolve like smoke."

"When the self is completely gone, the heart expands boundlessly. Only when one has fully released the self — no longer possessing it — can one taste the splendor and wonder of this vast universe; only then can one enter the world of profound freedom; only then can one understand the movement of the Dao and the will of the Greatest Creator; only then can one live as one's true self."

"Remember: the core of the Buddha's teaching is: no-self, no-form; heart with no fixed abode; heart with no hindrance."

IV. Seeing One's Nature: The Essential Gateway

"To become a celestial being and a buddha, one must — see one's nature (jiàn xìng)."

Bodhidharma's teachings (quoted by Xuefeng):

"Buddha does not chant sutras, buddha does not keep precepts, buddha does not break precepts — buddha has no keeping or breaking, neither creates good nor evil. If you seek buddha, you must see your nature. Seeing your nature is buddha. If you do not see your nature, chanting sutras, keeping precepts, fasting — none of it is of any benefit."

"If you seek buddha, you must directly see your nature. Nature is buddha; buddha is the person of ease, the person with nothing to do. If you do not see your nature, you wander all day seeking buddha outward — you will never find it."

V. Eight Practices for Becoming a Celestial Being

Source: "How Easy It Is to Become a Celestial Being Through Cultivation" (2023-05-26)

"If you do the following eight things, you will become a celestial being."

  1. Don't marry, don't acquire property — eat simple food, sleep through the night in peace.
  2. Don't talk about nations or awakening — work diligently each day; wherever there is bread, be happy.
  3. Don't flatter or network — whoever you meet on the celestial path is a kindred spirit; help one another as beloved kin.
  4. Don't wear gold, don't chase fame — a bamboo-fenced hut is beautiful; a quiet heart with nothing to do is most important.
  5. Don't scheme for yourself or others, don't seek recognition — even if you have the wisdom to order Heaven and Earth, if no one asks, offer nothing.
  6. Don't talk about self or others, don't judge right and wrong — Heaven's net has no leaks; better to drink tea and chat about simple things.
  7. Don't borrow or accumulate — two sleeves of clear wind, like grass in the field; let the weather do as it will.
  8. Don't follow the crowd — climb steadily toward the celestial realm; human life is a flash of the flower; laugh and forget it all.

VI. The Conditions for Celestial Ascension

Source: "Celestial Ascension and Its Conditions" (2016-05-28)

"To become a celestial being, you must have these minimum conditions: no worry about food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, aging, or death; living in a natural setting with mountains and water; completely free and unrestrained; away from money, power, fame, attachment, and lust; no hindrance in the heart; a group of kindred spirits vibrating at the same frequency; places for games, recreation, and play; a clean, orderly, and vitally alive living environment."

"'The mountain need not be high — if it has celestial beings, it is famous; the water need not be deep — if it has a dragon, it has spirit.' A person need not be of great intelligence — follow Xuefeng, and you become a celestial being."

VII. Traps on the Path

Source: "Sorting Out the Traps on the Path to Celestial Ascension" (2019-06-24)

"Human sentiment, kinship, marriage, family, ethnicity, nationality, party, organization, religion, money, power, fame, lust, profit, 'truth,' ideology, glory, merit, technique, rising above others, bringing honor to the family name, speculation, shortcut-seeking, learning, 'wisdom,' success, personal networks, superstition (including fortune-telling, face-reading, astrology, feng shui, bone-counting, divination, health-products)... In the end, it is still the Thirty-Six-Path Eight-Trigram Maze."

"Human sentiment is a trap. The stronger one's human sentiment, the weaker one's celestial sentiment. The heavier human sentiment weighs, the more one falls into the human path. To walk the celestial path, one must lighten the human path."

"Conclusion: if you haven't passed through the gate of romantic attachment, becoming a celestial being is hopeless."

VIII. Why Strive to Become a Celestial Being?

Source: "Why Strive to Become a Celestial Being?" (2024-10-11)

"If a person lives their entire life without breaking free of the two prisons of body and earth, their final reckoning is that they were a prisoner for their entire life — whether they became an emperor or president, a billionaire, a person of great fame and achievement — they were only distinguishable as big prisoners, small prisoners, famous prisoners, and nameless prisoners."

"Therefore, the effort of one's entire life should be placed on becoming a celestial being. Not to become one is to remain a prisoner."
