Abstract¶
The Chanyuan Corpus (禅院文集, Chànyuàn Wénjí) is the central textual foundation of Lifechanyuan, co-authored primarily by Guide Xuefeng (Ouyang Jinhui) with contributions from Chanyuan Celestials. It spans sixteen thematic sections and over one million Chinese characters, with select portions published in four printed volumes. Within the institutional structure of Lifechanyuan, the Corpus is positioned as a Level-Two curriculum of Lifechanyuan University — above the world's four major religious scriptures and below the "Wordless Heavenly Book." Together with the Xuefeng Corpus, it forms the doctrinal backbone of Lifechanyuan culture and the practical guide for Chanyuan Celestials' cultivation journey. This article examines the Corpus from six angles: its definition and status, sectional structure, mode of composition, cultivation functions, reading methodology, and relationship to the AI era.

2. Heart-mind purification: The goal of reading is not accumulation of knowledge but inner transformation: "not about how much you now know, but about continuously observing yourself, purifying your heart-mind, and correcting your direction."
3. Gateway to immortality: The Corpus must be absorbed at a level beyond intellectual reading — it must "penetrate into one's cultural DNA." Practitioners who treat it as merely interesting literature remain "human" rather than progressing toward Celestial status.

V. Reading Methodology¶
The Corpus explicitly demands comprehensive, holistic reading: partial reading leads to distorted understanding, likened to seeing only one side of a mountain. This demand for totality distinguishes it from texts meant to be read selectively or thematically.
