Cosmic Holography · Internal Reference

Original-text anthology for deep study. Quotations are rendered faithfully and grouped by theme.

I. Definition and Essence

The implication of the Hundun phenomenon is cosmic holography — boundless in its vastness, inexhaustible in its minuteness. Every phenomenon, every thing resonates with the cosmic whole in holographic unity; nothing exists independently outside of other things, and no phenomenon stands apart from the field of phenomena.

(New Era Human 800 Concepts, 4th Edition, Concept 413)

Nothing — no matter, no space — can obstruct the operation of the Tao, because the universe is a unified whole, a holographic field of resonance. Just as a thorn in the toe is instantly felt throughout the entire body, in this sense the universe is a vast living being, and the Tao is its central nervous system — its nerve endings extending and penetrating to every last infinitesimal point. This is what the sages meant when they said: "boundless in its vastness, inexhaustible in its minuteness."

(Chanyuan Corpus · Transmission Chapter · Xuefeng Transmits the Tao, Parts 1–8)

An intention is the arising of a thought in consciousness. The universe is one; the universe is holographic — therefore a single thought pervades the entire universe.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Universe and Space-Time Chapter · The Road Beyond Space-Time)

Everything in the universe operates within the Tao. The spirit of every LIFE is in communion with the spirit of the Greatest Creator; all things in all phenomena follow their own laws and principles — from the movement of celestial bodies to the activities of ants and bees, all are governed by the Tao. The universe is holographic; a single thought travels the universe in an instant.

(New Era Human 800 Concepts, 4th Edition, Concept 411)

II. Science, Holography, and the Role of Consciousness

Some have attempted to explain the universe through the holographic theory, in which there are three modes of existence: the material state, the motion state, and the thinking state. That is, in addition to mass and energy, there is a third cosmic phenomenon — thought, also called "mind-quantity" (意量). In this way, humanity broke free from the constraints of pure materialism and incorporated conscious thought — a tremendous advance in human understanding.

(Xuefeng Corpus · Chanyuan Chapter · LIFE Is a Spiritually Gifted Antimatter Structure)

Modern unified field theory recognises that mind-quantity — the energy produced by thought — is a form of existence that transcends space and time, yet possesses the capacity to connect with the external world. It also holds that spatial quantity, temporal quantity, and psychological quantity are mutually convertible; that black holes are composed neither of mass nor energy but of a vast field of consciousness; that the core of every particle is an "intention-particle" (意子); and that the universe is a holographic unified whole.

(Xuefeng Corpus · Chanyuan Chapter · LIFE Is a Spiritually Gifted Antimatter Structure)

Frontier science has already touched on some mysteries of the antimatter world and the negative universe. Whether it is the insights of Newton, Einstein, and Stephen Hawking, or the latest quantum theory and holographic universe theory, all have dimly perceived the problem of "hidden variables" and the enormous power consciousness exerts on matter. Science will ultimately become a great pillar supporting the theories of Lifechanyuan.

III. Manifestations and Characteristics

The universe is holographic; Heaven and humanity are one. The flutter of a butterfly's wings in Alaska will stir up a storm at the Cape of Good Hope; one person's cough can shake the heavens. Therefore, no one should underestimate their smallest effort.

(New Era Human 800 Concepts, 4th Edition, Concept 792)

The implication of the Hundun phenomenon is cosmic holography — boundless in its vastness, inexhaustible in its minuteness. Every phenomenon, every thing resonates with the cosmic whole. To put it vividly: a butterfly flapping its wings in Alaska can trigger a storm in South Africa; an Eskimo coughing in the Arctic can cause someone in Australia to fall from a building.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Tianqi Chapter · Mahjong, Hundun, and Chinese Culture)

Cosmic holography is not merely the saying "one grain of sand contains a world, one flower holds a Buddha-realm." It also means the universe is a Hundun whole, and every event occurring anywhere — near or far — is being "broadcast live" to the entire cosmos. If we "tune to the right frequency," we can perceive any event unfolding anywhere in the universe.

(Guide's Other Writings · 2007 · Let's Play a High-Level Game — Sensing the Vast World)

The universe is holographic: from a single mote of dust one can know the great thousand-world cosmos. The state-information of matter that has disappeared continues to propagate and be recorded throughout all existing matter.

(Guide's Other Writings · 2006 · Replies to Questions from Three Fellows)

IV. Relationship to the Greatest Creator, the Tao, and Spirituality

The Tao governs all; the universe is holographic. Heaven's net is vast; nothing escapes it. It follows only its program, showing no favoritism; it upholds only righteousness, yielding to no good intentions.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Greatest Creator Chapter · The Mechanism and Timing of Heaven's Rewards and Punishments)

The universe is holographic, co-embodied with the Tao. All things possess spirit; their spirit is one. Every LIFE has a spirit-body; a body without spirit is a dead shell. Spirit flows from a single source — the Greatest Creator.

(Xuefeng Corpus · Admonition Chapter · Why We Should Both Revere and Fear the Greatest Creator)

The universe is holographic; Heaven and humanity are one — all is one, and one is all. That oneness is spirit — the consciousness of the Greatest Creator. "All dharmas return to the same source; all teachings converge in one." This is the Way of the Greatest Creator.

(Xuefeng Corpus · Friendship Chapter · Discussing "Nature–Heart–Spirit" with Mingyue)

V. The Holographic Nature of LIFE — Every Person Contains All Qualities

Because the universe is holographic, every human being is born with divine nature, Buddha-nature, celestial nature, human nature, animal nature, and object-nature. Owing to differences in era, family environment, education, and personal effort, some achieve brilliant and exemplary lives while others reduce their lives to flawed or wasted ones.

(New Era Human 800 Concepts, 4th Edition, Concept 53)

The universe is holographic — "one flower, one world; one leaf, one Bodhi." Every person carries within them the qualities of all things in the cosmos: divine nature, demonic nature, Buddha-nature, celestial nature, human nature, animal nature, object-nature, and void-nature. When a person dwells in the world of gods, they are a god; in the world of demons, a demon; in the world of humans, a human; in the world of beasts, a beast.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Human Life Chapter · Human Nature Is Unfathomable)

Abandon human nature. Because the universe is holographic, every LIFE carries within itself divine nature, demonic nature, Buddha-nature, celestial nature, human nature, animal nature, and object-nature. For a human being, human nature is the dominant trait — but human nature is not celestial nature. Only by shedding human nature and cultivating celestial nature can one escape the constraints of human nature and move toward the celestial state.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Celestial Cultivation Chapter · The Three Levels of the Celestial and the Three Steps to Becoming One)

VI. Holography in Cultivation Practice

The universe is holographic; a thought in our heart travels the entire cosmos — including the antimatter world — in an instant. As long as we repent sincerely, the Greatest Creator will certainly hear, will certainly be pleased, will certainly forgive, and will certainly watch over us.

(Xuefeng Corpus · Heart-Mind Chapter · The Mystery and Value of Repentance)

The universe holds infinite wonders; because the universe is holographic, "one grain of sand, one world; one leaf, one Bodhi," and the human body too holds infinite wonders. The eight miraculous programs embedded in the human body described above are proof that sincerity moves even stone, and that exploring the marvels of the human body holds limitless joy and a beautiful future.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Antimatter World Chapter · The Eight Miraculous Programs of the Human Body)

Cosmic holography tells us that every person is a celestial seed — everyone has the potential to become a celestial being. What is needed is the right soil and environment for that seed to germinate, grow, bloom, and bear fruit. Cast a seed on concrete and it cannot sprout; place it in fertile earth and sunlight and rain will naturally nourish it to flower and fruit.

(Chanyuan Corpus · Celestial Cultivation Chapter · 83 Lifechanyuan Fellows Collectively Attain the Celestial State)

VII. Holography in Human Relationships and Society

Heaven's weather is unpredictable; human fortune rises and falls. The universe is holographic — helping others is helping oneself, saving others is saving oneself. If each person contributes what love they can, all of humanity can live in an ocean of love and a joyful home.

(Xuefeng Corpus · Friendship Chapter · Congratulating Philanthropist Online on Taking the Stage of Philanthropy)

You are in me, and I am in you. The universe is holographic — like attracts like, people gather by kind. We are probably all one family.

(Guide's Other Writings · 2006 · Storing Friendship for Future Enjoyment)
