The level of a person's IQ is primarily expressed through thinking ability. We can say that strong thinking ability belongs to higher LIFE, and weak thinking ability belongs to lower LIFE; the stronger the thinking ability, the closer one is to higher LIFE, and the weaker, the closer to lower LIFE.

Obviously, the thinking ability of plants is lower than that of animals; animals lower than humans; humans lower than Celestial Beings and Buddhas; Celestial Beings and Buddhas lower than Gods; and Gods lower than the Greatest Creator.

From this, I summarize thinking ability as an eight-rung ladder: Material Thinking, Imagery Thinking, Associative Thinking, Illusory Thinking, Heart-Image Thinking, Taiji Thinking, Non-Form Thinking, and Hundun Thinking — each rung higher than the last.

II. IQ Is Not Memory¶

There is no direct relationship between memory and IQ. My own memory is quite poor, yet I consider my IQ to be very high. There was an elderly man in my village who could recall every detail of events from forty years ago — yet his IQ was quite ordinary. Long-term memory is innate; short-term memory can be strengthened. Memory is closely tied to interest — what interests us is remembered; what does not is forgotten.
