I. I Open the Dharma Eye for Everyone

Source: Xuefeng, "I Open the Dharma Eye for Everyone" (March 24, 2007)

The Buddha tells us: eyes are of five kinds — Material Eye, Celestial Eye, Wisdom Eye, Dharma Eye, Buddha Eye.

With the Dharma Eye, wisdom bursts forth suddenly — "all mountains are seen below." One can discern right from wrong, and comprehend the mysteries of LIFE and the scenery of the Kingdom of Heaven.

How does one open the Dharma Eye?

Firmly grasp the Three Elements of the Universe — Consciousness, Structure, and Energy. Once their interrelationship is clarified, the Dharma Eye opens, and one will no longer be confused by any profound doctrine or theory.

Once you open the Dharma Eye, you stand in the ranks of the highest wisdom throughout all of human history.

With the Dharma Eye open, plus reverence for the Greatest Creator, concern for all under heaven, and working for the happiness of the suffering — you draw close to the divine.

II. Eight Hundred Concepts #88: The Five Wisdom Levels

Source: Xuefeng, New Era Humanity's Eight Hundred Concepts, Fourth Edition (#88)

Wisdom has five great levels, ascending from low to high: Material Eye wisdom, Celestial Eye wisdom, Wisdom Eye wisdom, Dharma Eye wisdom, Buddha Eye wisdom.

III. Eight Hundred Concepts #681: The Tathagata's Five Eyes

Source: Xuefeng, New Era Humanity's Eight Hundred Concepts, Fourth Edition (#681)

The Tathagata is one who speaks truth, speaks reality, speaks as things are, speaks without deception, speaks without difference. The Dharma the Tathagata has attained — this Dharma is neither real nor void. The Tathagata has the Material Eye, the Celestial Eye, the Wisdom Eye, the Dharma Eye, and the Buddha Eye. The Tathagata — having nowhere from which to come, and nowhere to go — is therefore called Tathagata (Thus-Come One).

IV. The Dharma Eye and LIFE's Antimatter Structure

Source: Xuefeng, "The Key to the Kingdom of Heaven — Life Mysteries II" (2007)

LIFE is a spiritually animated antimatter structure. We must set aside the physical body entirely, stop clinging to the material world, then envision the state of LIFE and the space in which it exists — and the Dharma Eye can open, allowing us to see the Tathagata of LIFE and the true face of the antimatter world.

V. The Dharma Eye: Seeing Through to Essence

Source: Xuefeng, "Tongxin Is a Little Troublemaker" (July 21, 2015)

One phenomenon conceals another phenomenon — we must see through appearance to essence. When something that appears on the surface to be an unfavorable situation arises, look at it with the Wisdom Eye, Celestial Eye, Dharma Eye, and Buddha Eye — and you will see how marvelously beautiful that situation truly is. This is why Laozi said: "In misfortune, fortune lies hidden; in fortune, misfortune lies concealed." This is why the proverb says: "The old man at the frontier loses his horse — who knows it may not be a blessing?"

VI. The Dharma Eye and Transcending Space-Time

Source: Xuefeng, "The Path Beyond Space-Time"

The past has become illusory; the present has become fixed; only the future is not illusory — only the future is real. This depends on whether you have opened the Dharma Eye and Buddha Eye. In fact, once you understand this truth, right now you can grasp the future — and see the living future before you.

VII. The Dharma Eye Among Chanyuan Celestials

Source: Xuefeng, "Washing Yùqīng Clean" (2024)

Today's Chanyuan Celestials — while they cannot yet be said to possess the Buddha Eye's ability to distinguish right from wrong in matters of the Tao versus mere technique — they do have the Dharma Eye. You have greatly underestimated the Chanyuan Celestials' ability to discern truth from falsehood; it is only out of consideration for the community's fellowship that they do not say so directly.
