Purifying the Mind — Internal Version

This version collects the core source quotations from the Lifechanyuan corpus on "purifying the mind," organized by theme for deep study.

I. The Supreme Purpose of Life

"The supreme purpose of life is to purify the mind. Of all things under heaven, nothing is greater than this."

— Xuefeng, The Revelation of the Event of God's Second Manifestation (2025-01-18)

II. Benefit One: No Longer Wounded by the Human World

"The most important aspect of purifying the mind is reconstructing the five outlooks — especially one's view of God, one's view of the universe, and one's view of life. When we truly understand: that God loves us and has prepared for us the Millennial Realm, the Myriad-Year Realm, the Elysian Realm, and their Immortal Island archipelagoes of the Celestial Realm; that life's suffering is simply the repayment of karmic debts accumulated across past lives, the settling of earthly ties; that life's ultimate direction is not the brief few decades on earth, but the eternal world of the Celestial Kingdom — we will discover that the suffering of the human world is no longer frightening, but has instead become an opportunity for the cultivation and tempering of life."

"Without a purified mind, we regard these wounds as the injustice of fate, and thus complain and rage, the mind endlessly accumulating waste, drifting further and further off course. But when the mind has been purified, we understand that life is a holographic, immersive cultivation game. The storyline will inevitably have obstacles, conflicts, and tears — but these are not truly meant to crush us. They are requirements of the plot, the pathways through which we repay our debts, the testing grounds through which we temper the mind."

"Life in the human world is indeed like a dream. In the dream we cry and laugh and panic; waking, we know it was only an illusion. Those who have purified their minds are those who wake up ahead of time within the dream. They understand clearly that all of this is a false realm set up for the cultivation of truth. Through this dreamscape, we repay our debts, cleanse our minds, and forge our character. When debts are fully repaid and character is perfected, we wake from the dream, travel light, and ascend to the Celestial Kingdom."

"So the first benefit of purifying the mind is this — no longer being wounded by the human world. Not that we will no longer encounter setbacks, but that we come to understand the nature of suffering, grasp the meaning of pain, and see through the illusion of the 'play within a play.' And so, regardless of what storms come, we can remain at peace, and smile."

III. Benefit Two: Eligibility to Apply for a Celestial Realm Visa

"The physical life of a human being is finite — a few decades pass in the blink of an eye. Some people spend their finite lives endlessly accumulating wealth, and depart with empty hands. Others chase after fame throughout their brief span of time, and leave behind nothing but a wisp of passing cloud. Only by using the finite span of life to purify the mind and elevate life quality can one, after the physical body perishes, open an infinite life journey.

The Celestial Realm visa is the starting point of this infinite life journey. It tells us: there is no need to worry any longer about the wandering of the soul; there is no need to fear the emptiness of existence. As long as one walks in God's way — purifying the mind, awakening spiritual perception, summoning celestial consciousness — one can gradually join the company of the Buddhas and celestial beings, and become a true citizen of the Celestial Kingdom."

IV. Benefit Three: Eligibility to Apply for Residence in the Second Home

"The Second Home is the enactment of the Celestial Kingdom's life program in the human realm. To be able to reside in the Second Home and to harmoniously and freely integrate into the community's life program means one has approached the life-quality standard of the Celestial Kingdom — this marks that one leg has already stepped into the Celestial Kingdom. Of course, the prerequisite remains: the mind must first be purified, and earthly ties must be settled."

"The Second Home is the cradle for becoming a celestial being. Without having gone through the purification of the mind, without the consciousness of a celestial being, it is very difficult to feel genuine happiness in the life of the community. … For those accustomed to the glittering pace of city life, arriving here for the first time may bring a sense of disorientation, even loss. But this is precisely the distinction: without the aspiration to become a celestial being, without the Mahayana vow, it is very difficult to see the preciousness of the Second Home, let alone to recognize its priceless significance on the road toward the Celestial Kingdom."

"The Second Home is God's kingdom; the Chanyuan Celestials are God's children. On the surface, the Chanyuan Celestials possess nothing — yet they possess everything in the kingdom. … Here 'chaotic governance' is practiced — no one manages anyone else; everyone is driven by the mind, by the qualities of truth, goodness, beauty, love, sincerity, and trustworthiness."

"Communal life is like a mirror, allowing people to see the 'weeds' in their soul garden — selfishness, jealousy, arrogance, laziness, complaint. … In the community, these have nowhere to hide; they are more easily noticed and corrected than in solitary living, gradually purifying life quality until it meets the standard of celestial life."

V. Benefit Four: Awakening Spiritual Perception and Locating the Immortal Islands

"Human beings have five senses — eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and body — and these five senses help us to perceive and understand the material world. … Precisely because of this, most people frequently harbor doubt about domains that cannot be seen, heard, or touched — or deny them entirely."

"Human beings have a soul; human beings have spiritual perception. The soul is our spirit-body — it truly exists. Spiritual perception is the soul's direct faculty of resonance: it is our capacity to communicate with the anti-material world. But because our soul gardens are overgrown with too many 'weeds' — greed, selfishness, jealousy, attachment, arrogance, laziness, and so forth — these cover over our spiritual eye, making our spiritual perception weak, shallow, and limited. To truly awaken spiritual perception, one must purify the mind, clear the weeds, open the eye of the heart, and use the spiritual eye to observe, experience, and sense the reality of both the material world and the anti-material world."

"Once spiritual perception awakens, the Celestial Kingdom is no longer distant. The Immortal Islands are no longer an abstract term, but coordinates deep within the heart — a real destination, a true path home. We know where we are going; we understand clearly how to get there. In that moment, life is no longer lost; existence is no longer confused; the road ahead is bright, and every footfall is sure."

VI. Purifying the Mind as Opening a Skylight

"In Lifechanyuan's understanding, a person filled with negative emotions and thoughts is like a sealed, mildewed, polluted room — sunlight cannot enter, and the life force gradually withers. Purifying the mind is opening the skylight, welcoming in light, fresh air, and the energy of God's love, so that the spirit revives."
