Kong-Xing — Emptiness-Nature — Friendly Version¶
One Equation That Changes Everything¶
Guide Xuefeng offers a striking chain of equivalences:
Kong-xing = No-form = No-self = Ultimate Nirvana = Elysian World = Tao = Buddha = Celestial Being
This means: enter the state of kong-xing, and you have already arrived at the Elysian World. Already achieved ultimate nirvana. Already become a Buddha.
Not in some future life. Right now.
What Is Kong-Xing?¶
The short answer:
"Emptiness-nature is the Elysian World; entering the state of emptiness-nature is ultimate nirvana."
The longer answer: kong-xing is the state of self lost, heart expansive and joyful — where the small, anxious, clinging self has dissolved, and what remains is pure spaciousness, freedom, and delight.
It is not emptiness in the bleak sense. It is not nothingness. It is the absence of everything that causes suffering, leaving behind only what is truly good.
The Heart Sutra Has Been Misread¶
For centuries, people have recited the Heart Sutra. But Xuefeng says its name has always been wrong:
"The Heart Sutra is a mistranslation, misreading, and misunderstanding — its true name is the Xing Sutra (Nature Sutra)."
Why? Because the mind doesn't exist — past mind, present mind, future mind are all ungraspable. The sutra isn't about emptying your mind. It's about the state of your nature (xing) — your original, pure, Buddha-nature — when it is no longer obscured by clinging.
"No eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, or mind… no suffering, origin, cessation, or path…" — this isn't a description of death or nothingness. It's a description of a state where none of the coordinates of suffering exist anymore. That is great freedom.
How to Feel It (Not Just Understand It)¶
Xuefeng acknowledges that kong-xing "is difficult to explain and put into words — it can only be experienced and felt." So he uses an analogy most people will recognize:
Extreme pleasure — when the self dissolves, the body disappears from awareness, daily worries vanish, and for a moment there is only pure, boundless wonder — that is a taste of kong-xing.
"This is the state of emptiness-nature — the state of self lost, heart expansive and joyful."
Not the destination itself — just a preview. A reminder that the soul already knows what it is like to step briefly outside the prison of the small self.
The Door, Not the Room¶
An important distinction: kong-xing is not a description of what the Elysian World looks like once you're there. It's the door into it.
"Kong-xing describes a mode of knowing and thinking; it points to a method and channel for entering the Elysian World; it does not describe the true scenes of the Elysian World."
Xuefeng's analogy: "An apple is a fruit, but not all fruit is an apple."
Once through the door — once the anti-matter soul passes through kong-xing — the cosmic three essentials (consciousness, structure, energy) activate fully. The Elysian World on the other side is full of life, beauty, and joy: "emptiness becomes form."
A Surprising Application¶
Xuefeng also notes:
"To coexist with biological robots, fighting them with will, courage, or ruthlessness is absolutely futile — only kong-xing can deal with them."
A being in kong-xing has nothing to attack — no ego to threaten, no possessions to take, no fear to exploit. Emptiness becomes the most powerful defence imaginable.
One Line to Remember¶
Enter kong-xing — and you have already arrived home.
