Miracles [Friendly Version]¶
This version is for first-time readers, explaining what "miracles" mean in the Lifechanyuan system and how to cultivate them.
What Is a Miracle?¶
Have you ever wished for something that felt completely impossible — and then, somehow, it happened? Or perhaps your deepest hope was suddenly, unexpectedly fulfilled?
Xuefeng offers a clear and simple definition:
"Something thought impossible actually happening — that is a miracle. Examples include all kinds of divine abilities, recovery from terminal illness, gender transformation, rejuvenation, turning stone into gold, traversing wormholes… The realization of one's most beautiful wish is also a miracle."
(Chanyuan Corpus · The Way of Transmission · Focus and Persistence Yield Miracles)
But Lifechanyuan tells us: miracles are not random gifts from heaven, not luck. They are the automatic operation of cosmic programs when the right conditions are in place — like a chick hatching from an egg. Twenty-one days of warmth and patience, and the chick breaks free. That is a miracle. That is the program completing itself.
Why Do We Rarely Receive Miracles?¶
It is not that miracles don't exist. It is that our "effort" hasn't reached far enough yet.
"We long for miracles to occur, yet in reality they appear rarely… not because there are no miracles, but because our effort is insufficient."
(Chanyuan Corpus · The Way of Transmission · Focus and Persistence Yield Miracles)
The two most common obstacles are:
- Scattered goals: Wanting one thing today, another tomorrow — energy disperses and concentrates nowhere.
- Lack of persistence: Tasting the surface, never going deep enough to break through.
The solution is four words: focus and persistence.
How to Obtain a Miracle¶
Step One: Fix a single goal
Don't chase multiple things at once. Choose the one that matters most, then give it everything.
Step Two: Repeat every day, without stopping
Same time, same place, same posture, same focus — every single day, until the miracle arrives. Water wears through stone not by force but by constancy.
Step Three: Purify your heart
The calmer, more spacious, and more clear your inner world, the more easily miracles come. Reaching the "Eight Non-Being States" — no clinging, no ego, no fear, no attachment — makes miracles vastly more accessible.
The Most Important Reminder: Don't Pray for Miracles¶
This is one of the most distinctive teachings in the Lifechanyuan system:
"Those who pursue miracles will never obtain them; those who hold fast to ordinariness will ultimately have miracles descend."
(Chanyuan Corpus · The Way of Transmission · Do Not Pray for Miracles)
Why not pray for miracles?
- If you pray and a miracle comes: You will forever dismiss process and program, becoming reliant on chance — and slide toward going off the rails spiritually.
- If you pray and no miracle comes: You will lose faith, blame heaven, and your inner foundation will crumble.
The right attitude: do each step well, and let miracles arrive in their own silent, natural time.
One exception: In a moment of extreme, immediate danger — when your consciousness is still clear — simply say inwardly: "Greatest Creator, save me!" In most cases, a miracle will occur. This is "training troops for a thousand days; deploying them for one moment."
Your Body Already Contains the Seeds of Miracles¶
Lifechanyuan reveals that the human body itself has eight built-in "miracle programs" — like switches waiting to be activated by the right conditions:
- Spontaneous Combustion — When cultivation reaches its peak and consciousness leaves the body, the physical structure dissolves in a luminous dispersion. Ancient traditions called this "rainbow dissolution."
- Rescue — In mortal danger, calling on divine help brings instant safety.
- Toxin Release — When rage reaches its limit, the body releases toxins. A warning: unchecked anger poisons the self.
- Elixir Dispensing — When the heart is empty, selfless, joyful, unimpeded — the body releases a life-giving substance that can heal terminal illness.
- Divine Abilities — Sustained focus on a single thing, without a single disturbance, opens the door to acting freely in the world.
- Madness — Emotional tangles with no outlet lead to the loss of sanity. A warning.
- Possession — Unchecked ego-desires lead to being controlled by outside forces. A warning.
- Supreme Bliss — When the inner world is flawless and one becomes pure love radiating outward — the state of Supreme Bliss unfolds naturally.
The first five are cultivation goals. The last three are cautions: imbalance in the heart triggers programs too, just in the opposite direction.
Start Small¶
Don't begin by aiming for the greatest miracle. Xuefeng suggests starting with things within reach:
- Letting a minor physical ailment disappear
- Noticing your complexion gradually improve
- Having someone help you in an unexpected way
- Turning grey hair back to black
- Accurately sensing tomorrow's weather
Each small miracle builds confidence. One key leads to the next.
"Wherever consciousness reaches, power reaches. When consciousness creates a structure from nothing, corresponding energy gathers — and where energy gathers, miracles are born."

The Miracle Already Waiting in Ordinary Life¶
Here is perhaps the most grounding teaching of all:
"Planting trees is an utterly ordinary task. But if a person does it season after season, year after year? 380,000 acres of desert became forest. That is the extraordinary miracle Zhang Yinglong created in the Mu Us Desert."
(Guide's Other Articles · 2023 · The Extraordinary Comes from the Ordinary)
Miracles don't live in the spectacular. They live in every ordinary day of repetition, patience, and commitment.
