You Are a Continuous Story¶
Have you ever wondered why some people are born into happiness while others are born into hardship? Why meeting a stranger can feel like encountering someone you've known before? Why some forms of suffering seem impossible to escape no matter how hard you try?
Lifechanyuan offers a clear answer: your present life is a script written by your past life, and what you do today is writing the opening pages of your future life.
Past life, present life, future life — these are not three different people. They are three continuous chapters of the same LIFE, moving through the river of time.
Why Don't You Remember Your Past Life?¶
If past lives truly exist, why can't we remember them at all?
Lifechanyuan's answer: during reincarnation, past-life memories are systematically erased, and one re-enters existence as a "new self." Like an actor changing into a new costume for a new role, clearing the memory of the previous scene to fully inhabit the present drama.
Guide Xuefeng explains that past-life memories have not disappeared — they are stored in the negative universe (the antimatter world), inaccessible to the present-life physical consciousness. Like a hard drive that has been formatted: the data remains, just temporarily unreadable.

Today's Suffering Is Yesterday's Seed¶
Lifechanyuan cites the teaching of the Patriarch Bodhidharma:
"To know the causes of a past life, look at what one receives in this life; to know the fruits of a future life, look at what one does in this life."
This single passage illuminates the logic of all three lives:
- Everything you encounter today (suffering, hardship, betrayal, misunderstanding) is a past-life bill being settled
- Everything you plant today (kind thoughts, harmful thoughts, large and small actions) is being written into your future life's script
This is not fatalism calling you to passive resignation. It is clarity about where responsibility lies: no one is an innocent victim without cause; no one is permanently owed anything by the universe.

Today's Efforts Are Tomorrow's Seeds¶
Some ask: if destiny is already fixed, does my effort even matter?
Xuefeng's answer: this life's script is already set, but the future life's script is alive.
Every intention, every act of kindness, every piece of merit you accumulate in this life is being written, in real time, into your future life's script. Like seeds a farmer plants this autumn — the harvest comes next year.
"This life's fate-formation is already fixed. One can only work toward the fate-formation of the next life. The future life's fate-formation is entirely decided and chosen by oneself. If a person continues living in confusion, the next life's fate-formation will be little different from this one — just another reincarnation. Remain confused forever, and one has no choice but to reincarnate forever."

Even better: you can deliberately envision in your heart the kind of LIFE you want to become in your future existence. Hold that vision without wavering. The Dao will, according to your merits and the purity of your consciousness, arrange that script.
Cultivation: From Confusion to Clarity¶
Most people drift through reincarnation in a daze — "who cares about past and future lives, who cares about karma" — and these people live simply enough, but they have no real future.
Cultivation is precisely the practice of breaking through that daze.
"The importance of cultivation lies in using steady, persistent effort to find the connection between the past-life self, the present-life self, and the future-life self — thereby understanding the direction and goal of one's life, moving from darkness into light."

When you genuinely open your spiritual awareness and come to understand your past and future lives, your life is no longer a confused drift — it becomes a journey with direction.
The Future Life: A Beautiful Celestial Existence¶
When cultivation reaches a certain depth, one no longer fears the future life — one becomes thrilled at the prospect of a beautiful celestial future.
"We will eventually enter a vast and open world. There, we will be thrilled that we have a beautiful celestial future life ahead; we will love life and humanity even more, and cherish this present life even more."

In higher-realm spaces (the Ten-Thousand-Year World and above), celestials can clearly remember their past lives and understand the conditions of the Thousand-Year World and the human realm — the divisions between past, present, and future dissolve completely.
