Spacetime Tunnel (Academic Version)

Abstract

The spacetime tunnel is a foundational cosmological concept in Lifechanyuan's system of thought, referring collectively to two types of inter-dimensional passage: the time tunnel, which traverses the vertical axis of past and future, and the space tunnel, which traverses the horizontal axis linking 36 dimensions and 20 parallel worlds. Derived primarily from the Chanyuan Corpus (Antimatter World Chapter) and the New Era Humanity's 800 Concepts (4th Edition), this concept integrates a mathematical coordinate-system model, a theory of spiritual perception, and a practical cultivation roadmap. This entry provides systematic analysis of its definition, structural model, epistemological implications, and place within the broader Lifechanyuan worldview.

I. Conceptual Structure

The spacetime tunnel is a compound concept built on two distinct but complementary structures:

Time Tunnel — a dense network of positive and negative time permeating all space, oriented vertically (along the time axis). It enables traversal of the past and future. The "vertical" nature corresponds to time's role as a recording medium for material states of motion.

Space Tunnel — lateral channels connecting the 36 dimensions of the universe's spatial structure. It enables traversal among the 20 parallel worlds existing simultaneously. The "horizontal" nature corresponds to the coexistence of multiple dimensional realities at any given moment.

The operational distinction is precise: one enters the time tunnel to observe one's own past or future; one enters the space tunnel to observe other parallel worlds existing in the present moment. (Entry 436)

II. The 20 Parallel Worlds: A Mathematical Model

Lifechanyuan describes the structure of reality using an extended Cartesian coordinate system:

Stage 1 — Two axes (x = space, y = time), each with positive and negative values → 4 quadrants in a flat plane
Stage 2 — Addition of imaginary axis z (representing the antimatter dimension) → 20 three-dimensional quadrants

World Coordinates Inhabitants
Human world xy Humanity
Ghost world -x-y Ghosts/lingering spirits
Divine world / Celestial Island Continent xyz Gods, buddhas, celestial beings
Demon world -x-y-z Demons
Millennium Realm xy-z Millennium-level celestials
Ten-Thousand-Year Realm x-y-z Ten-thousand-year celestials

The Greatest Creator's dwelling — Qinglianjie (Pure-Cool Realm) — occupies the origin point O, through which all axes pass and at which all 20 worlds intersect. This is the system's theological anchor: passage between worlds requires going through the origin point, which is equivalent to walking the path of the Greatest Creator.

III. Epistemological Implications

The theory of the spacetime tunnel carries embedded epistemological claims:

  1. Perceptual limitation is structural, not absolute. Human five-sense perception is confined to the xy plane — one "flat" projection of a 20-quadrant universe. Other dimensions are not nonexistent; they are simply outside the range of ordinary sensory apparatus.

  2. Spiritual perception (spirit eye) is the instrument of expanded knowing. Opening the spirit eye is described as the equivalent of perceiving the imaginary z-axis — a shift from flat-plane to three-dimensional consciousness.

  3. The illusion of the "only world" parallels mathematical blind spots. The virtual axis z is invisible from within the xy plane (like a rod viewed end-on appearing as a point), just as other worlds are invisible from within xy.

IV. Pathways to Entry

Lifechanyuan records two principal routes into the spacetime tunnel:

Individual (meditative) route: Entering deep stillness, clearing material-world consciousness, and entering a nirvana-like state causes the practitioner to "slide into" the space tunnel spontaneously. (Antimatter World Preface)

Collective (institutional) route: Becoming a Chanyuan practitioner is described as the moment one's spiritual body enters the space tunnel toward the Celestial Island Continent, even while the physical body remains in the human world. This is a community-supported, guide-mediated process.

Both routes converge on the same requirement: thorough understanding of core texts, active participation in Lifechanyuan community-building, and mastery of the Eight Ways of Thinking and Eight Mysteries of Life.

V. Comparative Perspectives

External Concept Source Relation to Spacetime Tunnel
Wormhole General Relativity Physical shortcut in curved spacetime; does not address consciousness, parallel worlds, or spiritual cultivation
Many-Worlds Interpretation Quantum Mechanics Structural parallel to 20 parallel worlds; Lifechanyuan adds coordinate-system precision and a cultivation path
Bardo / Intermediate State Tibetan Buddhism Transitional space between lives; analogous to traversal between worlds but within a different soteriological framework
Shamanic journeying Indigenous traditions Experiential entry into other "worlds"; Lifechanyuan shares phenomenology, adds mathematical scaffolding

Lifechanyuan's distinctive contribution is the integration of mathematical structure (coordinate geometry), spiritual phenomenology (first-person accounts of tunnel traversal), and institutional practice (the Chanyuan grass community as a vehicle for collective passage).

VI. Position in the Cultivation System

The spacetime tunnel concept functions as a bridge between cosmological knowledge and practical cultivation:

  • Prerequisite: Higher levels of the eight thinking strata (at minimum, Taiji Thinking); open spirit eye; purified spiritual body
  • Practice: Meditation, stillness, study of core texts, community participation
  • Goal: Lateral movement from xy (human world) through the space tunnel to xyz (Celestial Island Continent / divine world)

Importantly, this is framed not as an individual achievement but as a collective journey — the guide (Xuefeng) leads practitioners through the tunnel as a group, with each person's role being to prepare the spiritual body for the transition.
