I. Definition — What Is a Sage?¶
"Only those who have changed human history and brought welfare to millions of people while possessing nothing themselves can truly be called sages." (Chanyuan Corpus · Evangelism Chapter · The Path to Sagehood, 2025-01-24)
"A sage has no self — the Tao is their self, all of nature is their self. A sage has no selfishness — virtue is their selfishness, the happiness of all beings is their selfishness. A sage has no personal agenda — the hearts of all people are their heart. A sage has no attachment — the laws and principles of nature are their attachment. A sage has no desire — the will of the Greatest Creator is their desire. A sage has no resentment — their own cultivation shortcomings are their only cause for regret. A sage has no debt — they owe nothing because their life is one of giving and devotion. A sage has no hatred — they simply deliver light and warmth to the world like the sun, offer beauty like flowers, quietly nourish mountains and rivers like spring rain, and gently fill the air with fragrant blessing like nightbloom." (Chanyuan Corpus · Evangelism Chapter · The Path to Sagehood, 2025-01-24)
"From this we can see: to work toward the realms of no-self, no-selfishness, no-personal-agenda, no-attachment, no-desire, no-resentment, no-debt, and no-hatred — and to strive to transform the lives of all people toward greater joy, freedom, and happiness — this is the path to sagehood." (Chanyuan Corpus · Evangelism Chapter · The Path to Sagehood, 2025-01-24)
II. The Simplest Path¶
"Very simple. The most direct and simplest way is this: think — how can I help others live better than I do? The moment you think this way and act on it, you are a sage." (Xuefeng Corpus · Heart and Mind Chapter · The Simplest Direct Path to Sagehood, 2020-12-14)
"You don't need to read the Bible, the Buddhist sutras, the Tao Te Ching, or the Quran. You don't need to seek a teacher or listen to any master. You only need to think about how to help others live better than you do, and act accordingly." (Xuefeng Corpus · Heart and Mind Chapter · The Simplest Direct Path to Sagehood, 2020-12-14)
"Ask every official in prison for corruption — you'll find that ninety-five percent fell because they were always thinking: how can I live more comfortably than others? And they acted on that thought." (Xuefeng Corpus · Heart and Mind Chapter · The Simplest Direct Path to Sagehood, 2020-12-14)
III. Seven Graduates — Shared Characteristics¶
"Lifechanyuan has been a university from its very first day — a university that cultivates sages. Twenty years have passed and seven sages have graduated. Seven in twenty years — a modest yield. Yet these few fruits can be shown to the world, and more will follow." (Xuefeng Corpus · Inspiration Chapter · Lessons from Seven Sage Graduates of Lifechanyuan University, 2025-01-28)
The seven shared these characteristics:
1. Long study — all studied at Lifechanyuan University for more than ten years (thirteen to twenty). Lesson: Sagehood does not come overnight.
2. Clear mind — able to prioritize, think in order, write with precision. Lesson: A clear head is the first prerequisite. Confusion forecloses sagehood.
3. Doers, not talkers — no grand slogans, just step-by-step work over a decade, focused entirely on elevating their own antimatter life-structure and their work. Lesson: Sages are made through action, not words.
4. Emotional stability — always praising others, never causing harm, never complaining, never keeping score. Lesson: Only those who give steadily without taking can become sages.
5. Holding to one — once on the path, never wavering in belief regardless of circumstances. Lesson: Sagehood requires unwavering constancy — "the sage holds to the One as the pattern for the world."
6. No-self, no-selfishness, no-attachment — materially, they owned nothing, giving everything to the community and to the kingdom of the Greatest Creator. Lesson: To become a sage, one must reach the state of no-self, no-selfishness, no-attachment.
7. Lively, free, romantic, optimistic — like children, they knew how to play. Lesson: A sage is not stiff and solemn but alive and spirited.
And above all: they held the world's beings in their heart and walked toward the celestial paradise. Lesson: Without the highest aspiration and without walking toward the celestial paradise, sagehood will not hold. (Xuefeng Corpus · Inspiration Chapter · Lessons from Seven Sage Graduates of Lifechanyuan University, 2025-01-28)
IV. The Program — Why Environment Matters More Than Moral Teaching¶
"The key is this: throughout human history, those who sought sagehood were countless, yet those who achieved it were rare as morning stars. The reason is that humanity has never built a program capable of producing sages reliably and sustaining their quality over time.
In 2009 I built such a program. After ten years of running it, nearly a hundred sages and worthies emerged — many of them farmers with only a primary-school education, living beautiful lives like celestials. None of this would have happened through articles alone.
I say to every cultivator: if you have not built — and entered — a program, no amount of study will ultimately bear fruit." (Chanyuan Corpus · Cultivation Chapter · The Blind Spots of Cultivators Through the Ages, 2021-01-12)
V. Why Become a Sage?¶
"Why become a sage? Because the rare is precious; sages are rare; therefore sages are precious. Because only by becoming a sage can one enter the Elysium Islands Continent. Why do it at all? It is driven by an inner force — it cannot be otherwise. It is one's heavenly mandate." (Chanyuan Corpus · Evangelism Chapter · The Path to Sagehood, 2025-01-24)
"The sage who reaches this destination ultimately discovers that the path of sagehood holds the most beautiful scenery in the world. It is the most intoxicating, enchanting path — the same as the path to becoming celestial and buddha. It is the hardest path in the world yet the most direct shortcut to heaven." (Chanyuan Corpus · Evangelism Chapter · The Path to Sagehood, 2025-01-24)
"A sage will certainly not create karma, will certainly not fall into hell, and is certainly a life of the celestial kingdom." (Xuefeng Corpus · Heart and Mind Chapter · The Simplest Direct Path to Sagehood, 2020-12-14)
